Nottinghamshire First Class Debut: 24 August 2024 vs Durham (Chester-le-Street)
A proud product of Nottinghamshire’s Academy, Freddie McCann is the latest of a long list to graduate from the Green and Golds’ pathway, signing his first professional deal in the winter of 2023.
He shot to prominence in 2024, making his debut in all three formats, as well as equalling the highest U19 ODI score with 174 against Sri Lanka.
He struck a belligerent 48 from 32 balls against Yorkshire on his first Vitality Blast appearance, before a half-century against Durham on his maiden County Championship start.
One fixture later, against Surrey at Trent Bridge, the left-hander made 154 against an attack including Dan Worrall and Jordan Clark, before another Trent Bridge ton against Warwickshire in the final game of the season.
That return earned him the Emerging Player of the Year award, a year on from securing the Charles Vernon Price Memorial Plate at the club’s end of season awards, given to the most improved player from the Academy.
