Notts 256-7 (Bicknell 59, Mierkalns 50)
Notts won by three wickets
Bowling close to full pace, Shreck?s four wickets held Yorkshire to 255off 50 overs at Headingley before our top order squeezed home in athrilling run-chase with a ball to spare.
Paul McMahon hit the winning runs with a towering six over midwicketoff former Notts left-armer David Lucas, leaving coach Wayne Noon ahappy man.
Noon said: ?It?s been great to see the entire squad get into thewinning habit and I was very pleased at the way the senior playersgelled with the youngsters.
?ECB regulations limited us to four capped or over-25 players and allfour did their part. Charlie is getting better with every match, whileDarren Bicknell, Russell Warren and Paul Franks all made contributionswith the bat.
?But I was especially pleased for Josh Mierkalns, who took on thebowling once Franks was out and showed real maturity in his batting.
?There?s been some good cricket played by the boys all through thecompetition. Now we?re all looking to finish the job in style.?
Notts have won the Second XI Trophy only once, in 1991, and Noon willlead the side to Horsham to take on Sussex in the final on MondaySeptember 5.
