We completely outclassed the team described by Newell as "the strongest in the Northern group" in front of 6,456 supporters thanks to a solid batting performance and excellent bowling and fielding.
He said: "We played pretty much the perfect game and the challenge now is for the guys to repeat that performance.
"Individuals all played well, we built partnerships during our innings and had the right batsmen in at the crease at the right time.
"The total was a strong one but we ensured they never got the chance thanks to a tremendous opening spell from Greg Smith and AJ Harris.
"It put them under pressure and while they were missing Stuart Law and Brad Hodge we have still comprehensively beaten the strongest team in the group.
"I don?t think any team will win all eight group matches but we still need to look at winning five or six to get through. This was a great start but we must keep it up against Yorkshire on Sunday."
