Will Jefferson intends to use his winter tour of Bangladesh with England A as a stepping-stone to further international honours this summer.
Our new opener rated his batting as ‘decent’ but was disappointed that he failed to register a century on the tour, despite making starts in nearly all his innings.
And the 27-year-old has already pencilled into his diary England A’s upcoming fixture with West Indies in June as the next opportunity to impress National Academy Director Peter Moores.
He said: “Going on tour to Bangladesh was a very enjoyable experience and I’d put much of that down to Peter Moores, who really moulded us into a team unit.
“We all had a debrief after the tour and he reinforced the point to me that I had made some decent scores without building on them.
“That will be a big target for me with Notts and it all adds to the excitement of settling into a new dressing room with new team-mates.
“I’m in possession of the England A opener’s spot at the moment and need to keep getting the runs to hold on to my place. But the game with the West Indies is only at the back of my mind as I’m really looking forward to stepping out on to the pitch as a Notts player for the first time.”
