Mark Ealham hit an unbeaten 130 as Notts declared on 434-9 in the second day’s play in the LV County Championship opener at Kent.
The all-rounder, who joined Notts from Kent in 2003, smashed 15 fours and three sixes to add to half centuries from Mark Wagh, Samit Patel, and Paul Franks.
“It’s great to chip in with the runs and I know Mick Newell was looking for big contributions from the lower order,” said Mark.
“I was disappointed not to take any wickets on Wednesday but the beauty of being an all-rounder is that I get a chance to make amends with the bat.”
Darren Pattinson and Charlie Shreck will lead the Notts bowling attack when play resumes on Friday with Kent on 14-0 after posting a first innings total of 162 all out.
“Darren has bowled very well in difficult conditions and he has helped to put us in a very strong position,” said Mark.
“I am not surprised by his performance because I have seen him in the nets and David Hussey spoke very highly of him and to take five wickets running up the slope at Kent in cold weather is exceptional.”
