The ECB are lending their support to a world record attempt to conduct the world’s biggest simultaneous sleepover - and is asking junior members of local cricket clubs to join in.
The 5th annual Giant Sleepover will take place in venues all across the UK on the night of Saturday 14 June 2008.
Each year thousands of children take part in this fun event, and each one receives a free ‘goody bag’ full of fun things to do. If your Cricket Club takes part then you will receive a ‘Treasure Box’ crammed with useful games and ideas for activities to use on the night, plus complementary breakfast cereals courtesy of Kelloggs for the next morning.
More than 40,000 children are expected to take part in over 1,000 sleepover venues - including kids from primary schools, Scouts, Brownies and Guide groups, Boys’ and Girls’ Brigades, Sea Cadets, After School Clubs and St John Ambulance Badgers. Some youngsters are even expected to participate in America, Australia and New Zealand.
To break the world record for the largest simultaneous sleepover (currently held by 33,093 participants in the 2006 Giant Sleepover) all children must have their lights out for at least seven hours and not sleep in their own beds. So why not hold at sleepover at your ground?
Then the following morning there is the second Guinness World Record attempt - ‘The Aquafresh Minty Mouth Challenge’ - for the most people simultaneously brushing their teeth. At 8.30am on Sunday 15 June everyone will brush their teeth using the Aquafresh toothpaste provided and smile their way to another world record.
Anyone wishing to take part in the fun should please register their details at www.giantsleepover.com or call 0870 240 1640.
