Ben McGuire hit 111 as Notts Academy resgistered a 195 run victory over Marshalls in the Bassetlaw League.
McGuire reached his 50 from 37 balls and his ton from 61 balls, hitting 8 sixes, three of them from reverse sweeps, and five fours in the 70 minutes he was at the crease to set up a declaration at 282-7 after 46 overs.
Akhil Patel had got the innings of to a bright start with a fluent 46. Sam Kelsall scored 26 and Adam Shepherd gave McGuire good support in their fifth wicket stand of 110.
Left with 54 overs in which to bowl out the home team, it looked as though many of these would not be needed as they slumped to 18-4 with Jake Ball claiming two wickets. Adam Shepherd claimed his second wicket at 41-5 but dogged, almost strokeless, defence from Chris Blood and Mark Whitlam slowed things down. The pair batted through 18 overs adding just 30 runs to frustrate the Notts attack.
With the score on 71, McGuire had Chris Blood caught by Shepherd in the gully for 12. Akhil Patel then claimed two quick wickets to earn victory in the 45th over.
