Mick Newell has put faith in Matt Wood and Andre Adams ahead of Nottinghamshire’s LV County Championship match against Durham on Wednesday.
Wood has been preferred to Will Jefferson in the opening pair alongside Bilal Shafayat who retains his place.
Adams’ inclusion and the availability of Ryan Sidebottom means that Darren Pattinson and Luke Fletcher miss out with Mark Ealham and Charlie Shreck completing the seam attack.
“All of our bowlers are fit and that gives us a chance to share the workload,” said Newell, who will include Fletcher and Pattinson and his team to face Somerset in NatWest Pro40 on Sunday.
“The middle order have performed well and we’ve picked up good batting points but we are looking for the opening pair to give us more runs than has been the case and Matt Wood deserves his chance to be part of that.”
Durham, who are without England pair Steve Harmison and Graeme Onions, lead Division One of the LV County Championship with Nottinghamshire lying third with two games in hand.
