Nottinghamshire Chief Executive Derek Brewer has confirmed that Trent Bridge will launch a bid to host a match between Australia and Pakistan next year.
The ECB reached agreement with the Pakistan Cricket Board last week to host two Test matches and Two Twenty20 internationals in England and Wales in July 2010.
Pakistan is unable to host matches on home soil due to security concerns.
"I think a game in the East Midlands is the ideal stage for a neutral fixture given the diversity of the population, and that was highlighted in the ICC World Twenty20," said Derek.
"The atmosphere here for the games involving Pakistan was extraordinary.
"We are definitely interested in staging a game but they will be going out to tender and it will be very competitive.
"Given that the games are scheduled for next season, I'm sure things will move pretty quickly over the next few weeks."
ECB Chairman Giles Clarke has accepted the role of chairman of the ICC Pakistan Task Team, a body set up by the ICC to assist the PCB in protecting its position in international cricket.
"The Pakistan team performed outstandingly well in the World Twenty20 tournament in England and were worthy world champions," said Clarke.
"The passion of the support for their team in England demonstrated why this country is an ideal venue for these matches against Australia.
"The warm relations between our two Boards has developed further under the leadership of the current PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt, with whom I enjoy an excellent working relationship, and ECB is delighted to support Pakistan in staging these matches."
