Director of Cricket Mick Newell praised the contribution of veteran batsman Ali Brown following the 39-year-old’s first century for Notts.
Brown hit 148 in the second innings against Hampshire to help set up a victory which maintained Notts’ place at the top of Division One in the LV County Championship.
The right-hander, who signed from Surrey in the winter, has now hit 368 runs in seven first-class innings this season, averaging 61.33 with three half-centuries to add to his hundred.
He has struggled to have the same impact in the Friends Provident Trophy and Twenty20 Cup but Newell said: “Alastair has done very well in four-day cricket for us. It wasn’t particularly what we were thinking when we signed him but I’m very pleased with his contribution.
“He’s acted as a senior player for us and used his experience in difficult circumstances.”
Newell was particularly impressed with the team’s performance at the Rose Bowl, with a number of individuals contributing at crucial times.
He added: “Everyone played their part and even those who didn’t get runs took good catches.
“It was an all-round excellent team performance. We dug themselves out of a couple of holes and hung in on a flat track to get the 20 wickets we needed.
“It might not have been our best performance overall but it was particularly pleasing to see the team go away and pick up a win in difficult conditions which are a long way different to Trent Bridge.”
