Ryan Sidebottom's plea to be involved in Nottinghamshire's Twenty20 Cup matches this week has been heard by the ECB, who have given clearance for the England seamer to play against his former county Yorkshire this evening.
The 31-year-old told www.nottsccc.co.uk last week that he was desperate to play as much as possible for the Outlaws ahead of the start of the Ashes, having driven straight from England's ICC World Twenty20 camp to Bristol for the Friends Provident Trophy quarter-final.
The left-armer, who was today named in England's 16-man pre-Ashes camp along with Notts team-mates Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann, will take the new ball against second-placed Yorkshire Carnegie, with the game due to begin at 5.40pm.
Extra interest will surround the appearance of former England skipper Michael Vaughan, who is expected to bat at three for Yorkshire but who missed out on the Ashes squad this morning.
Sidebottom is also available to play on Wednesday against Leicestershire Foxes, boosting Notts' hopes of climbing up the table. The Outlaws will need to win all four home matches at Trent Bridge this week to have any hope of finishing in third place and possibly earn a quarter-final spot.
A third-place finish would also ensure they are part of the first division in the new P20 League, which will replace the NatWest Pro40 League from next season.
Tickets for today's game cost £15 for adults and £8 for juniors, while a family ticket for two adults and two juniors costs £38.
