Fifties from Neil Edwards, Bilal Shafayat, Samit Patel, Chris Read and Mark Wagh contributed to a final score of 366-15 as Nottinghamshire continued their pre-season tune up against Leicestershire with a day of batting.
Matthew Hoggard, the visiting captain, was a constant menace returning 5-31 having opened the bowling in tandem with former Notts man AJ Harris.
Edwards scored freely through the covers to construct his best pre-season knock to date.
“I’d been a bit disappointed with a couple of low scores in practice but I always felt in good shape and knew that a score wasn’t too far away,” said Edwards.
“Batting at Trent Bridge is very different to batting at Taunton and there is always the risk that you are going to nick a good delivery but I felt ‘in’ today and had some joy driving through the covers.
“There was a lot of swing early on and once things settled down there was more lateral movement and Matthew Hoggard demonstrated that he’s still a fantastic bowler when the ball swings for him.
“As a batting unit, we’re all trying to find our feet and hopefully today’s innings will give me a start that I can build on.”
Nottinghamshire will spend 96 overs in the field on Wednesday hoping to atone for Monday’s 40-over defeat by making inroads into the Leicestershire batting order.
England seamer Ryan Sidebottom will be available for the home side.
