Andre Adams and Alex Hales played starring roles as Notts wrestled back the initiative on the second day of their LV= County Championship game against Lancashire.
Adams finished with 6-79 as Notts spent less than three overs in the field at the start of the morning session. He failed to secure his hat-trick with an innocuous length-ball having taken wickets with consecutive balls at the end of day one.
The New Zealander took care of the tail to surpass 50 LV= County Championship wickets for the first time whilst Ryan Sidebottom accounted for Mark Chilton (67).
Matt Wood’s place in the side seems fragile with Australian batsman Adam Voges arriving at the weekend. Wood failed to score whilst his opening partner Alex Hales excelled despite seam-friendly conditions.
Mark Wagh (6) and Samit Patel (10) departed to leave Notts 37-3 but Ali Brown (28) and Chris Read (35 not out) enjoyed fruitful partnerships with Hales to steer Notts to 178-4 at the close.
Hales was dropped twice in the slips but has an excellent opportunity to reach three figures from his overnight score of 87 if rain abates in the final two days.
