David Hussey will look to extend Nottinghamshire’s best ever individual score against Yorkshire when he resumes unbeaten on 222 on Thursday.
Hussey’s knock has already established a 319 run lead with Notts having reached 497-6 at the close.
Samit Patel (96) and Chris Read (42) ably assisted Hussey whose partnership with Paul Franks is already worth 97.
"...they’ve got good fast bowlers and that always makes me want to get stuck in."
With heavy rain forecast for Friday, Notts plan to bat aggressively at the start of the morning session before going in search of the ten wickets required to win the match.
“Samit and I were lucky to cash in and I saw the ball really early and found the middle of the bat,” said Hussey.
“It was pretty satisfying to get runs against Yorkshire on a good wicket because they’ve got good fast bowlers and that always makes me want to get stuck in.
“After the initial boundaries the field spread and I was able to find ones and twos.
“I’d like to get 300 but stats don’t bother me if we can put a gap on the chasers.
“Mick set a goal to score 500 first innings runs which we’re on course for but the true test of character will come tomorrow if we can win by an innings and go top of the table.”
Yorkshire’s first innings bowling analysis made grim reading for the home support aside from Patterson who returned 3-82 having accounted for openers Matt Wood and Alex Hales and number seven batsman Ali Brown.
