Notts Academy 235-9 (6pts) lost to Kimberley 236-6 (20pts ) by 4 wickets

Samit Patel got one over younger brother Akhil as Kimberley celebrated victory over Notts Academy with three balls to spare.

In truth the Academy were only in the match for the final few overs following the first ball dismissal of Samit. This seemed to bring the team to life and Brett Hutton took 4-16 in a seven over spell to give his side some hope of escaping with a draw as Kimberley stumbled from 186-1 in the 40th over to 224-6 in the 48th.

Alex Robinson and John Terry had given Kimberley the initiative with a first wicket stand of 104 before Akhil Patel had Robinson (36) lbw following a prolonged appeal. John Terry went on to complete a century scoring 109 from 131 balls with 18 fours and a six.

Brett Hutton had Terry caught behind and followed it up with the prize wicket of Samit Patel leg before in the same over.

Taking the wickets of Jarred Sewell (48) and George Bacon (6) put Notts in with a chance, however by the time the last over arrived he had bowled his seven overs allowed because of his age and Jake Ball had to return to bowl the last over with six needed.

Earlier Notts had been asked to bat and lost the wickets of Wood, Azad and Patel with 42 on the board.

Sam Kelsall and Scott Elstone added 69 for the fourth wicket when Elstone was out for 18. Robson was out for 20 on 142 and then Sam Kelsall was bowled by Samit Patel for 73 from 113 balls with nine fours.

Adam Tillcock batted positively for 35 not out and Jake Ball swung lustily hitting four sixes and a four in his 33 from 22 balls before being bowled by Bacon with three balls remaining as Notts reached 235-9 after fifty overs

Samit Patel took 3-47 and George Bacon, who suffered from the Ball barrage, took 3-84.
