Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell has opted to play a single spinner against Essex at Chelmsford.
Essex have won the toss and elected to bat with Graeme White and Darren Pattinson omitted from the line-up.
“I’ve asked the players not involved in our Friends Provident t20 side to maintain their form in the second eleven so I’m not expecting any talk about making the transition," said Newell.
“We’re in a good position but now we face a run of four away matches in the LV= County Championship to navigate and I expect our hosts to make life difficult for us.”
Notts are without an overseas player with David Hussey on international duty.
Nottinghamshire team to face Essex: Alex Hales, Ali Brown, Mark Wagh, Bilal Shafayat, Steven Mullaney, Samit Patel, Chris Read, Paul Franks, Charlie Shreck, Luke Fletcher, Andre Adams,
