Scorecard

Outlaws’ skipper David Hussey’s birthday celebrations were dampened on a wet night at Trent Bridge as the Leicestershire Foxes won by 23 runs courtesy of the Duckworth and Lewis method.

In a match containing no fewer than five Victorians it was the Foxes’ Andrew McDonald that shone with both bat and ball to give the Leicestershire side their first away win of the season.

Despite the Outlaws’ first home defeat they are guaranteed a home Quarter Final after Lancashire lost at Northampton.

Having won the toss and elected to field the Outlaws were set a testing 146 for victory.

Rain interruptions did little to help the Outlaws cause and an enforced break with 8 overs remaining left them with a revised target of 141 from 19 overs.

Play was finally halted after 16.4 overs with the score on 107 for 9, 23 runs behind the required D/L rate.

Man of the Match, McDonald, was the chief destroyer returning the best figures of any bowler in this season’s competition. His spell of 5-13 decimated the Outlaws’ middle order and keeps the Foxes in the hunt for a Quarter Final berth.

The Australian international had earlier made an unbeaten 58 from 44 balls to set the Outlaws an imposing target.

Fellow Victorian, Brad Hodge, kicked off the innings in style, scoring 14 from Darren Pattinson’s first over.  Hodge was eventually caught at mid off by Hussey off the bowling of Dirk Nannes for 21 from 17 balls.

Former Outlaws batsmen, Will Jefferson, was second top scorer for the Foxes with a well crafted 33 from 25 balls, including 3 fours and 1 six.

Opener Ali Brown scored 28 from 18 balls, but the loss of regular wickets slowed the reply and the constant driving rain forced an early halt to proceedings.
