Second Eleven Trophy
Notts (238-8) beat Derbyshire (237-7) by two wickets.
At 151-3 in the 33rd over Notts seemed to be in control chasing 238 for victory. Mark Nelson, returning to the side following his broken ankle at Cleethorpes, had gained the initiative with 54 from 67 balls before he was out caught behind off the bowling of Jake Needham with the score at 116.
Scott Elstone had added 80 with Nelson for the 3rd wicket & he too was batting well reaching his 50 with a six from 65 balls. Needham then had Paul Franks bowled at 151 & then Elstone in Needham's next over watched in disbelief as he hoisted him straight to Slater on the mid wicket boundary for 58, leaving the two younger players Sam Kelsall & Sam Wood to repair the damage.
Wood drove to cover on 16, Luke Fletcher hit a six and a four in a rapid 14 before being caught off former team mate Mark Footitt, and when Kelsall was out at 206 for 18 defeat seemed imminent with 4.4 overs remaining.
Enter keeper Scott Stanworth who hit Notts to victory with a six and two fours alongside Brett Hutton as Notts won with six balls to spare.
Earlier Notts had bowled well to keep Derby to 237 from 50 overs. The visitors owed their score to Chesney Hughes who was the mainstay of the innings scoring 108 from 124 balls with just seven boundaries.
Scott Elstone bowled well taking 2-46 with his off spin from his ten overs backed by Luke Fletcher and Charlie Shreck who both took 2-43. Bilal Shafayat bowled a containing spell of 8 overs for 34 runs.
The win keeps Notts at the top of the North division having won five of their six matches.
