Samit Patel’s unbeaten 76 was the highlight of an unspectacular climax as Notts played out a draw against Kent.
Regular rain showers and high first innings scores meant a definitive result was always unlikely but Patel’s knock will help him to keep his place in the side when Nottinghamshire resume their LV= County Championship title challenge in three weeks time.
Notts shook hands on the draw at 210-3 with a lead of 110 runs and remain top of division one with a game in hand on second placed Yorkshire. Steven Mullaney finished unbeaten on 48 with Hales (13), Wagh (34) and Hussey (22) the batsmen to be dismissed.
Earlier, Andre Adams secured his first five wicket haul for Nottinghamshire when Darren Stevens was caught behind three runs short of his double century.
“Samit played well today and there have been a few noteworthy batting performances from our players in this match,” said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
“It’s pleasing that Andre has taken five wickets in an innings but I was a little concerned that Kent were able to score 570 runs against our attack.
“There’s a break from four-day cricket now and we’re pleased with the position that we find ourselves in although we’re well aware that four wins is nowhere near enough and we’ll have to hit form when we resume.”
Notts begin their Friends Provident t20 campaign with a televised trip to New Road on Thursday before facing Derbyshire Falcons at Trent Bridge on Friday evening (6pm).
