Nottinghamshire bowler Stuart Broad has been left out of the England squad to face Bangladesh.
Broad joins Paul Collingwood on the sidelines and has been asked to undergo a strength-training programme to prepare him for a busy summer of international cricket.
National Selector Geoff Miller made the announcement from Trent Bridge this morning and also excluded Ryan Sidebottom. Graeme Swann is the only Nottinghamshire player in the 12-man squad.
"There's a need for Stuart to undertake an intensive strengthening programme ahead of an arduous summer and a busy winter and the next three weeks have been identified as the ideal period for this programme," said Miller.
The omission of Broad and Sidebottom for the two Test series could allow Notts to unleash a devastating seam attack in their opening fixtures in the Friends Provident t20.
Australian paceman Dirk Nannes will relish the opportunity to be named alongside the England pair if they are cleared to play in the first home fixture against Derbyshire Falcons on Friday 11th June.
England squad: Andrew Strauss (c) (Middlesex), Alistair Cook (Essex), Jonathan Trott (Warwickshire), Kevin Pietersen (Hampshire), Eoin Morgan (Middlesex), Iain Bell (Warwickshire), Matt Prior (wkt) (Sussex), Tim Bresnan (Yorkshire), Graeme Swann (Nottinghamshire), James Anderson (Lancashire), Steven Finn (Middlesex), Ajmal Shahzad (Yorkshire)
