Notts Premier League
Papplewick & Linby 261-6  / Notts Academy 232-6  - Match Drawn
Notts Academy 8pts / Papplewick & Linby 16pts

Papplewick & Linby came out on top against Notts Academy despite an unbeaten 75 from Michael Robson.

Robson, playing his first innings of the season, scored at a run a ball but the older heads in the visiting line-up kept their noses in front.

The batsman had another dominant day on the Notts Sports Club pitch for this Premier League encounter.

The visitors won the toss and batted but startied slowly scoring 34 in the first ten overs before losing Lloyd, caught by Bobby Gamble off the bowling of Jake Ball for 4.

John Wakeling survived an early confident appeal for a catch at the wicket but went on to add 157 for the second wicket with Mark Nelson the former Northants left hander.

Nelson was the dominant partner hitting the ball confidently reaching his 50 from 45 balls. Wakeling had reached his half century from 103 balls when he was well caught by Robson for 56 off Akhil Patel. Moments later the same pair accounted for Nelson who had looked assured of a century but fell for 90.

Bekker (31) and Khan (25) not out saw Papplewick to 261 -6 from their 50 overs. The Academy conceded 37 extras, 22 of these from no balls and wides. Akhil Patel had figures of 3-73 from 14 overs and Jake Ball returned  2-22. Skipper Scott Elstone also bowled tidily with his 15 overs costing 78 runs.

Notts were equally circumspect when they started their reply. Former England fast bowler Dean Headley opened the bowling and whilst being well below his pace of yesteryear he still commanded respect.

Patel (28) and Sam Wood (37) were both out, the score standing at 83-2 in the 23rd over.

Momentum was lost in the middle overs and it was not until Michael Robson and Scott Elstone joined forces that the run rate picked up.  They added 79 for the 5th wicket but then Elstone (28) and Jake Ball (3) were both out caught on the long on boundary by King off the bowling of Khan and any possibility of an Academy win was gone.
