Second Eleven Championship
Cleethorpes, Day 2 of 3
Notts 148 & 123-4
Lancashire 224 & 263
Notts require a further 217 runs to win

Notts continued to struggle on the second day of this match at Cleethorpes. The pitch lost some of its venom from the first day as it changed from its green appearance to a more straw coloured texture.

The last two Notts wickets added 37 to the overnight total leaving them trailing by 76 on first innings.

Gareth Cross took the game further away from Notts with a hard hit 106 with 72 runs in boundaries. His was the major contribution to a total of 263. For Notts, Graeme White took 3-55 and Dan Cumming 3-57 in another undistinguished bowling display

Scott Stanworth took a further four victims to take his tally to nine in the match.

Notts started their run chase in a positive mood with Sam Wood scoring 20 before being caught behind with the score on 34. Matt Wood followed four runs later, bowled by a ball that kept low.

Akhil Patel took on the Lancashire attack reaching his 50 in 63 balls before being bowled by Parry for 64. Elstone was also out but Sam Kelsall was 23 not out at the close and Nottinghamshire’s hopes for the last day will rest on him and his partner Graeme White although it will be an uphill struggle.
