Second Eleven Championship (Day three of three)
Durham 7pts (403-7 dec & 180) lost to Nottinghamshire 22pts (453-6dec & 134-1) by 9 wickets
Second Eleven Captain Neil Edwards seems set to step into the Notts Outlaws team to face Somerset in Sunday’s Clydesdale Bank 40 match at Trent Bridge after leading his side to a Championship win over Durham.
Notts showed that there was nothing to fear from the pitch or the Durham attack by hitting the required runs inside 19 overs losing only Akhil Patel for 35.
Edwards was not out for 47 whilst Rikki Wessels hit 46 of his 49 runs in boundaries.
Notts had begun the final day 23 runs behind with Durham 73-4 and made the early breakthrough when Adam Shepherd had Ben Harmison (43) brilliantly caught at slip by Rikki Wessels, diving to his left.
It seemed even better next ball when Shepherd shattered Wood's stumps with a yorker only to see the umpire holding his arm out indicating a no ball.
It was to be another hour before Notts’ tight bowling was rewarded with further wickets. Jake Ball dismissed Jennings (50) caught by Elstone at cover off a ball that stopped on him and then bowled Wood (22) who dragged a short ball on to his stumps attempting a pull shot.
Graeme White then dismissed Rushworth prior to lunch and had Pearce leg before just after the break.
Adam Shepherd then finished the innings trapping Killeen in front to dismiss Durham for 180, a lead for the visitors of 130.
Shepherd finished with 4-65, Ball 3-37 and White 2-15.
