Charlie Shreck has been recalled from his loan spell at Kent and will play for Nottinghamshire against Hampshire at Trent Bridge.
Notts have lost Darren Pattinson (hamstring) and Andy Carter (abdominal strain) to minor injuries in preparation for the first match of their LV= County Championship campaign.
The new look opening pair of Paul Franks and Mark Wagh will precede Alex Hales and Samit Patel in the top four with Andre Adams added to the team that drew with Oxford MCCU.
“We’ve picked up a couple of injuries but Charlie has had a good four days at Kent and he’s ready to go tomorrow,” said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
“This time last week we had six fit seamers and now we’re down to four so the side has picked itself in the end.”
Nottinghamshire secured four straight victories to launch their title assault last season and Newell is keen to make a positive start.
“We usually play on result pitches at Trent Bridge and we need to make sure we’re on the right side of those results,” he said.
“Having the tag of defending champions is irrelevant to me as I can see six teams with a genuine chance of winning it and we’re one of those.”
