Nottinghamshire spinner Graeme Swann has been ruled out of England’s two remaining One Day Internationals in Australia with a back strain and will return to England to finalise his preparations for the ICC Cricket World Cup.
Swann has missed the last two One Day Internationals in the seven match Commonwealth Bank Series due to a knee injury that has responded well to treatment.
"It's frustrating to return home from the tour early but the priority for me now is the World Cup and getting my body right so that I am able to play an important role for England throughout the tournament,” said Swann.
“I will be following the rest of the series and hope to see England put in some positive performances over the next fortnight. I've had the time of my life over here and bringing back the Ashes is something that will always stay with me."
England’s ICC Cricket World Cup campaign begins in Nagpur against The Netherlands on Tuesday 22 February.
