Unicorns A 224-7 (40overs) lost to Notts 228-6 (37.5 overs) by 4 wickets
Notts will require one more victory to make certain of a semi-final place in this competition having maintained their unbeaten record against the Unicorns.
As it stands, two sides could equal the 14 points that Notts have gained, one of these being Lancashire who remain unbeaten.
At 143-6 with 78 required from ten overs the unbeaten run looked as though it could come to an end but Steven Mullaney, captaining the side, played the innings of the day and was unbeaten on 118 when the runs were obtained with 13 balls to spare.
The early loss of Edwards and Elstone was compounded when Brown, Benham and Patel were back in the pavilion with the score on 96-5 when Mullaney started to repair the damage.
His first fifty came in 59 balls and then after Graeme White (24) had helped him to start to get the innings on course, he set about the bowling after the spinners had completed their eight over spells.
His second fifty came in just 31 balls and he reached his 100 hitting pace bowler Syddall, who had taken early wickets to put Notts in trouble, for 21 in an over.
Sam Kelsall, who had supported Mullaney in the 81 run partnership, finished the game with three consecutive boundaries.
The Unicorns innings was built round 82 scored by Levitt. Jake Ball, Brett Hutton and Graeme White took two wickets apiece.
