Rain interfered with the final round of matches in the Second Eleven t20 competition as Notts took on Derbyshire in back-to-back encounters.

Notts won the first match after Derby had been set a revised target of 118 to win.

The visitors needed two points from the day and a better run rate  to surpass Durham and qualify for the finals day on Friday at Cambridge.

In the first match, Ollie Swann (34), Akhil Patel (32) and Chris Benham (31) were the top scorers with Jake Needham taking 4-24, three of these being stumping victims for Tom Poynton.

Derbyshire had reached 67-2 from 10.1 overs when the rain came and at the restart they needed 51 from 4.5 overs.

Matt Lineker scored 36 but the loss of four quick wickets on the resumption left them short of the target by 13 runs.

Derbyshire then had to win the second game and restricted Notts to 128 aided by Ali Brown (32) and Sam Kelsall (31). Notts collapsed from 113-5 to 128 all out with Burgoyne taking 4-18.

Rain at the start of the Derby innings meant that their target was reduced to 110 from 16 overs and, led by Lineker (56 no) and Poynton (36 no), they reached their gaol with 10 balls remaining to qualify for the finals.
