Second Eleven Trophy
Notts 263-7 (40 overs) Northants 202 (35.5 overs)
Notts won by 61 runs

Notts made it six straight wins in the Second Eleven Trophy with a comprehensive victory over Northants at Wellingborough School.

Notts batted first on winning the toss and all the batsmen contributed making double figure scores.

Scott Elstone top scored with 51 which unusually only contained two fours. He faced just 55 balls but such was his placement and judgment of quick singles that only 18 of these were dot balls.

Graeme White, coming in at number eight, provided late momentum as Notts added 102 in the last ten overs, White 41 not out, and Pete Turnbull, 28 not out, added 51 in 26 balls.

Earlier, Akhil Patel (23) and trialist Karl Turner (24) had a half century opening partnership to send Notts on their way. Skipper Ali Brown contributed 24.

Northants had reached 38-1 when Newton drove hard back to Dan Cumming who deflected the ball on to the stumps to run out Ackland. However, he damaged his hand in the process and took no further part in the match.

Newton fell to Bacon in his opening over when he had scored 39 but from then on, there was only David Willey who looked likely to take the game away from Notts.

When he was caught on the boundary by Brown off the bowling of White the score was 143-6 and apart from a rapid 35 from Davis the rest of the batting fell away against the spinners.

White ended with 4-46 and Patel 3-34. Notts were home and dry with 29 balls to spare.
