Ali Brown and Paul Franks will return to the Nottinghamshire team for Wednesday’s LV= County Championship match against Warwickshire at Trent Bridge.
Brown has registered two Second Eleven fifties since losing his place in the Nottinghamshire side and will replace Samit Patel in the top six following his call-up to the England Lions squad to face Sri Lanka.
Franks replaces Neil Edwards who suffered a broken wrist in last week’s defeat at Hove.
“Warwickshire enjoyed a good win over Worcestershire last week and they’ll be in good shape with three international batsmen in their middle order,” said Newell.
“We were outplayed last week and losing a couple of batsmen to injury and call-ups means that this fixture will test the depth of our squad.”
Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell hopes to include Steven Mullaney in his side but will make a late decision on his fitness after he was struck on the jaw to add to the squad’s injury concerns.
Sam Kelsall has demonstrated solid form in the second eleven and may be considered if Mullaney is ruled out.
Darren Pattinson is fit again but misses out with Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann available to Notts.
Luke Fletcher will be rested to make way for Charlie Shreck who sat out of the Susex and Yorkshire matches with knee pain.
