Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell will hand late fitness tests to influential duo Andre Adams and Paul Franks before confirming his team to face Yorkshire in Wednesday’s LV= County Championship match at Trent Bridge.
Franks bowled in today’s net session but stronger doubts exist over Adams’ involvement with Ben Phillips on standby to deputise.
Notts will be otherwise unchanged with Mark Wagh and Neil Edwards opening the batting in a top four underpinned by Alex Hales and Samit Patel.
“Ryan will get a warm welcome because he did very well for us during his time here and he’d acknowledge that Nottinghamshire did well for him too." Mick Newell
Ryan Sidebottom will return to familiar surroundings in a Yorkshire pace attack that also features Ajmal Shahzad.
“Ryan will get a warm welcome because he did very well for us during his time here and he’d acknowledge that Nottinghamshire did well for him too,” said Newell.
“Yorkshire rolled us over cheaply at Trent Bridge last season and they’ll be keen to start a turnaround here, especially after our result at Headingley.”
Alex Hales will be in the spotlight after he backed up solid four-day form with a lydesdale bank 40 century on Sunday. Hales has an 85, 83 and 84 to his name already this season but is conscious that three figures have eluded him after excellent starts.
“I’ve felt in good nick but I’ve been disappointed not to have turned eighties into hundreds,” he said.
“We’ve made a good start but we know that there are no easy games and Yorkshire will always provide tough opposition.”
