Scorecard
Notts Outlaws suffered a narrow Duckworth-Lewis defeat at Old Trafford as the home side held their nerve in a tense final over.
Needing eight runs from six balls to reach a victory target of 146, Paul Franks scored two off the first ball before chipping one to Paul Horton who held a simple catch to firmly alter the momentum of the match.
A dot ball and a single brought Andre Adams on strike but he was clean bowled by Stephen Parry to condemn Notts to a third defeat in four Clydesdale Bank 40 matches.
Chris Read (59) had rebuilt the innings after a top order collapse that included ducks for Riki Wessels, Akhil Patel and Adam Voges. The captain looked on track to lead a victory charge until he was clean bowled by Saj Mahmood who finished with 4-24.
Ben Phillips (15), Ali Brown (22) and Steven Mullaney (22) were the only other Notts batsmen to reach double figures as they finished four runs short, all out for 142.
Lancashire’s innings was disrupted by two wickets in two balls from Sam Wood (2-24) whilst Andre Adams returned 2-23.
Notts Outlaws face Gloucestershire Gladiators in Wednesday’s floodlit fixture at Trent Bridge (play starts 4.10pm) knowing that they must win to restore fading hopes of qualification for the knockout stages.
