Nottinghamshire all-rounder Samit Patel will resume England Lions' tour match against Sri Lanka alongside fellow unbeaten centurion Eoin Morgan having contributed 101 to an overnight score of 394-4.
Patel was keen to capitalise on his call-up having spent months in the international wilderness following fitness concerns. Patel hit 14 fours in his 131-ball hundred.
Winter stints in Australia and solid form for Nottinghamshire earned him inclusion in England's second string for this fixture and his application pleased Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
"Samit has made the most of this opportunity and put his name back in the frame for international cricket," he said.
