Riki Wessels will open the batting alongside Akhil Patel when Nottinghamshire travel to Worcestershire for Sunday’s LV= County Championship match at New Road.
Wessels impressed in Wednesday’s Clydesdale Bank 40 victory over Gloucestershire Gladiators and his inclusion is one of three changes with Samit Patel and Darren Pattinson also returning to the fold.
Ali Brown misses out with Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann on international duty with England.
“Riki is in the team on merit and he’s keen to establish himself in our four day side,” said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
“I have had discussions with all of our players during the last week stressing the importance of this match after two disappointing results.
“Worcestershire have made a poor start but they won’t roll over and a lot of their defeats have been inflicted on the final day of even contests.”
Adam Voges will make his final LV= County Championship appearance of the season following the arrival of David Hussey.
Nottinghamshire team to face Worcestershire: Riki Wessels, Akhil Patel, Mark Wagh, Samit Patel, Adam Voges, Steven Mullaney, Chris Read, Paul Franks, Andre Adams, Darren Pattinson, Charlie Shreck
