Harry Gurney will compete for a place in the Nottinghamshire team to face Somerset as Director of Cricket Mick Newell looks to build on his side’s winning start.
Notts have already beaten Worcestershire and Durham and Newell remains confident of a positive result despite a wet forecast at Trent Bridge.
“There is some rain around but you would tend to expect a result well within four days at Trent Bridge at this stage of the season,” said Newell.
“Somerset have a well-rounded squad and they will be very competitive in all formats but we have a good record against them.”
Low first innings scores haven’t hampered Nottinghamshire so far this season with Andre Adams leading a seam attack that has proved to be an effective force once more.
Ben Phillips and Neil Edwards will be particularly keen to produce polished performances against their former club with Samit Patel set to feature at Trent Bridge for the first time this season following his Test debut in Sri Lanka.
