Steven Mullaney will return to the Nottinghamshire team to face Durham with Riki Wessels facing three weeks out with a broken finger.
Wessels excelled with a fine century in Nottinghamshire's victory over Worcestershire and his exclusion allied to the return of Samit Patel sees middle order changes.
Patel will bat at number four with Graeme White losing his spot and James Taylor in at number five ahead of Chris Read and Mullaney.
"Steven scored some runs in Barbados and will be keen to make a contribution and stay in the team," said Nottinghamnshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
"Durham are a very experienced team and will expect to challenge this season but we have to draw on the prode we felt in beating them last season which was one of the most satisfying victories we have had in recent years."
Durham were left without a fixture in the opening round of the LV= County Championship but thrashed Durham MCCU in a game that saw the students bowled out for 18 runs in their second innings.
