Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann will both feature in the Nottinghamshire team to face Lancashire in this week’s LV= County Championship match at Old Trafford.
The England duo will also face Middlesex at Trent Bridge next week in a bid to tune up for England’s three-Test series against West Indies.
Luke Fletcher will be rested throughout Broad’s inclusion with Director of Cricket Mick Newell naming a 14-man squad.
“Graeme is ready to play and will slot straight in but Stuart hasn’t had any competitive cricket for a month,” said Newell.
“We all know what they are capable of and they need to use these games to prepare for a big summer of international cricket.
“Having a second spinner in the side and introducing Stuart may alter the balance of the side a bit and we’ll make a late call as to how many bowlers we name in the team.”
Nottinghamshire haven’t played four-day cricket at Old Trafford since winning the LV= County Championship in 2010.
The top order will remain unchanged from the draw at New Road but Steven Mullaney, Paul Franks, Harry Gurney, Ben Phillips and Andy Carter must compete for two remaining places in the team.
