Nottinghamshire bowler Andy Carter has signed a new three-year contract at Trent Bridge.
The Lincolnshire-born quick took 25 LV= County Championship wickets in nine appearances this season.
“Andy has progressed nicely and I hope that he can establish himself as one of our senior bowlers during the term of this contract,” said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
“This has been a breakthrough season for him after a period where injuries were disrupting his progress and he now has a good understanding of how to prepare himself for the rigours of the season.
“He has an unusual action with good pace and an aggressive bouncer and he has the potential to get better and better.”
Carter made his first class debut in 2009 but an ankle operation delayed his availability until the latter part of the following season, which saw him gain valuable experience whilst out on loan with Essex.
Having impressed in the nets at the ECB Performance Centre in Loughborough in 2010, he flew to the Caribbean to make his England Lions debut under the tutelage of Newell
Carter was Notts Outlaws' joint leading wicket-taker in the Friends Life t20 in 2012 and also took 12 wickets in the Clydesdale Bank 40.
“I’ve been pleased to stay fit all season and be in the side in all formats but I feel that there is more to come from me,” said Carter.
“I’ve worked hard on my strength and fitness and in time I would like to lead the attack.”
