Trialist Matt Cross registered a fifty as Notts Outlaws suffered a 63-run defeat against Leicestershire Foxes in a 40-over pre-season friendly at Grace Road.
Riki Wessels scored a nicely-paced fifty of his own as Notts gave opportunities to several players who didn’t feature in the red ball practice with Northamptonshire.
Graeme White, Sam Kelsall, Adam Tilcock and George Bacon were all involved with Wood catching the eye with the dismissals of Josh Cobb and Niall O’Brien in consecutive overs.
The Leicestershire batsmen had both flourished though and Michael Thornley’s unbeaten 107 had set Notts and unlikely victory target of 329.
Kelsall and Cross made a solid start but Notts faltered in the middle order with Ben Phillips (21) and George Bacon (4) unbeaten at the close.
The two sides will contest two days of red ball action at Trent Bridge on Thursday and Friday with free admission for a ll supporters.
