England’s selectors have today announced a sixteen-man limited-overs squad ahead of the upcoming ODI and T20 series, with Nottinghamshire’s Stuart Broad, Alex Hales and Michael Lumb all involved.

All three have been named in the three-match T20 squad, captained by Broad, who has also been named in the squad to face Australia in five One Day Internationals.

A number of the senior players representing England in the current Ashes series have not been named, including Graeme Swann, Kevin Pietersen and James Anderson.

“We have an important period of limited overs cricket coming up with an ICC World T20 in Bangladesh in March and we are just over a year away from the ICC Cricket World Cup in New Zealand and Australia,” said Geoff Miller.

“These two series against Australia allow valuable opportunities for players to push for places in both squads and given the rivalry between the sides both series will no doubt be keenly contested.”

England's five-match ODI series in Australia will begin on 12 January, with the three T20 fixtures following on 29 January.
