Nottinghamshire's Academy team continued their run of good form to claim a seven-wicket victory over Welbeck Colliery and climb to fourth in the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board Premier League.
Welbeck won the toss and elected to bat with captain Martin Dobson and Matthew Higgins starting strongly.
They had put on 39 before Dobson fell for nine to the bowling of Brett Hutton (1-20.)
Regular wickets continued to damage the top order as George Bacon claimed three wickets and Adam Tillcock one as Welbeck were reduced to 97-5.
An 81-run stand between Jonathan Ball and Oliver Pringle ensured a low total was not on the cards.
However, Tillcock (3-50) returned to remove Pringle and Ashley Willis and Hassan Azad took the wicket of Ball to leave the score on 186-8.
From there, wicket keeper David Hunt managed 15 off 16 deliveries to boost the visiting side’s total to 202-8, Bacon returning figures of 3-28.
The Academy’s reply got off to a poor start as they lost both Tom Rowe and Sam Kelsall to Ball (2-63) as they faltered to 26-2.
A stand of 87 for the third wicket pushed the score past 100 before Anuj Dal was run out for 31.
That brought Tillcock to the crease to join Azad and both batsmen took the attack to the bowling.
There were no more scares for the Academy as Azad and Tillcock guided the side to victory in just the 38th over.
Azad ended on 89 not out with Tillcock producing a run-a-ball 52 as the Academy secured 20 points from the game.
