Nottinghamshire’s Second XI fell to a nine-run defeat in their Championship match against Glamorgan, despite an excellent 80 from opening batsman Hassan Azad, and good scores from Brett Hutton and Ben Phillips.
Notts started the morning requiring 223 to win with seven wickets in hand, but in the 9th over Aaron Todd (24) was caught at slip by Jones off Harry Powell. Nine overs later Tillcock was caught on the boundary off Bull, and the same bowler trapped Cross in the 20th, Notts 140-6. Azad remained unbeaten, and alongside Brett Hutton saw Notts through until lunch, the pair adding 34 for the seventh wicket by lunch.
After the break, Azad added just seven more beore being caught in the deep off Holmes for an excellent 80. Ben Phillips arrived and built a partnership of 71 before he was caught by Salter. Bacon joined Hutton needing 39 to win, but the new man was adjudged LBW in the 67th over, still needed 18 runs. The last man in, Luke Wood, took Notts to within ten runs of victory before Glover bowled Hutton for 45, sealing victory for the hosts.
