Worcestershire continued to build on their first day performance as Notts seconds fell further behind.
Nottinghamshire resumed their innings on day two but had a poor first session, losing Sam Kelsall in the second over of the day without adding to his overnight score.
In the 6th over of the day things got worse as Hassan Azad fell for 16, caught behind off Charlie Morris with the score on 27-2.
Sam Wood and Tom Rowe rebuilt but nearing the fifty partnership they both perished in quick succession.
Wood was caught behind for 22 off Martin Weightman’s bowling before the score was reduced to 76-4 as Weightman turned catcher to remove Rowe for 25 off Chris Russell.
Russell struck again in the 24th over bowling Matt Cross (0) with the score 80-5. Adam Tillcock (17*) and Brett Hutton (9*) then guided the home side to lunch with the score on 103-5.
After lunch only nine runs had been added when Tillcock was caught behind for 21.
Phillips came and went quickly, again falling to a catch behind in the 44th over with the score on 125-7.
Brett Hutton was unmoved and he, along with George Bacon began to stop the collapse and add some runs. Hutton reached his fifty in the 54th over with the partnership moving on to 56.
However he was next to go, caught and bowled by Brett D’Oliveira for 67 and Bacon followed soon after, keeper Johnson claiming his fifth catch of the innings.
That left the score on 185-9 but the tail wagged in the shape of Luke Wood and Ben Kitt.
Kitt eventually was last man out, caught by Fell off Morris for 22 leaving Wood 16 not out and the final total on 219 all out.
All the visitors’ bowlers played a part but the pick were Chris Russell with 3-46 off 20 overs and Martin Weightman with 3-52 off 17 overs.
With 28 overs left in the day, the Worcestershire batsmen would have been looking to build on their lead. They did just that as the Nottinghamshire attack toiled in the sunshine but could not break through the opening partnership of Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Tom Fell.
Fell moved to fifty and the 100 partnership soon followed before in the penultimate over Kohler-Cadmore was caught by George Bacon off Luke Wood for 40.
The last ball of the day also produced a vital wicket with Adam Tillcock trapping Darryl Williams (2) LBW, the score at the close 117-2, Fell not out on 68 and Worcestershire 229 ahead.
