Nottinghamshire Academy suffered a 168-run defeat at home to Cuckney in the Notts Premier League on Saturday.
Hassan Azad (11) and Adam Tilcock (22) were the only Academy batsmen to reach double figures in a calamitous response to Cuckney’s total of 248/7.
The visitors built their score around Will Root who struck 5 sixes in an unbeaten 128.
The Academy’s bowlers toiled away in the sun, with George Bacon finishing with the best figures of 3-42 off 11 overs. Bacon took the first wicket breaking a stand of 50 when he bowled Stroh for 15 in the 13th over and the visitors’ other best batting performance came from Richard Bostock who scored 36 and also fell victim to Bacon, caught by Brett Hutton in the 45th over
The Academy struggled in their reply against the bowling of Richard Stroh and Kieron Garside losing five wickets for 45 by the 16th over, Garside removing Sam Kelsall (0), Hassan Azad (11) and Brett Hutton (7). Stroh removed Tom Rowe and Sam Wood, both for 9.
Adam Tillcock battled away, reaching 22 by the 24th over but then getting caught behind by Elliot Hind off Lewis Bramley’s bowling (66-6). George Bacon (4) was bowled by Bramley in the 26th over (72-7) and in the 29th Andrew Parkin-Coates (7) was caught by Root off Ian Parkin (76-8).
Parkin struck again in the 31st over, Ben Kitt (2) caught at short leg by Nick Langford (80-9) and The Academy were all out next over when Luke Wood (2) was caught by Root at slip off Orson Nurse with no addition to the total.
