England will look to avoid a series whitewash at Trent Bridge on Wednesday after Martin Guptill inspired New Zealand to an 86-run victory and an unassailable 2-0 lead.
England Captain Alastair Cook hinted afterwards that there could be changes to the side for the final match in the series and a last chance to consider the merits of players ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy.
"They really batted us out of the game and Guptill's innings was a very special effort." Alastair Cook
"We have some quality players in our squad," said Cook, who is yet to learn whether or not Steve Finn and Stuart Broad will be available for selection after minor injuries.
"It may be that this is the time to give them an opportunity. We have options to go both ways and we'll be looking at different combinations."
New Zealand meanwhile have proved to be a more than credible force with Guptill's back to back centuries providing firm foundations for explosive bursts in the final overs.
"I reckon 320 was about par," said Cook, who had seen the tourists register 359-3 on a good pitch.
"That was gettable. But they earned the right to do all that damage by keeping wickets in hand. It was a tough day for us, they really batted us out of the game and Guptill's innings was a very special effort."
