Nottinghamshire Academy face West Indian Cavaliers on Saturday hoping to evade the rain that has disrupted the Notts Premier League season.
The Cavaliers are top of the table after managing to beat the weather and claim three straight wins.
That doesn’t bother academy coach Paul Johnson though who has confidence in his side.
“A lot depends on the weather and the wicket but we will be looking to get a positive result out of the game,” Johnson said.
“You can just look at the quality of their side and see that is the reason they have done so well in the past couple of years.
“They have four or five ex-professionals such as Usman Afzaal and Akhil Patel who have had first class experience.”
However, that isn’t to say that the Academy side has quality of its own.
“We have always performed well against this opposition and tomorrow should be no different.
“Throughout the rain, Tom Rowe has been the pick of the batsman scoring consistent runs.
“Luke Wood has had a good start to the season with his bowling and the spinners have bowled well despite the conditions.
“Add to that George Bacon who is coming of the back of a good performance in the second team and we have good strength of our own.”
The game is away at Birchover Park and will begin at 12:30pm.
