Nottinghamshire bowler Stuart Broad returned career best figures of 7-44 to help England secure victory in the first Investec Test of the summer.
England’s margin of victory was made more than comfortable and Broad, bowling in tandem with Jimmy Anderson, ripped through New Zealand who struggled to offer resistance.
“I’ve felt in a really good rhythm with Nottinghamshire since the early season and I need to keep bowling now." Stuart Broad
“It was set to be a bit of a nerve wracking day and both sides were in it at the start of it but I felt that the wicket had sped up a bit today and, if you nicked it, it carried,” said Broad.
“I’ve felt in a really good rhythm with Nottinghamshire since the early eason and I need to keep bowling now. I like the Nursey End at lord’s because I can start slightly wider on the crease and fire it into the stumps which helps to move it away from the bat which helped me today.
“It’s great to be back on the honours board but I created the pressure in partnership with Jimmy and I personally think that he should have been man of the match.”
England will face New Zealand in the third NatWest Series One Day International at Trent Bridge on Wednesday 5 June.
