Nottinghamshire Second’s go into tomorrow’s three day game against Warwickshire looking for an improvement from last week’s three-day fixture against Durham.
For large parts of the game Durham were in the ascendance before the game was finally taken over by the weather and ended in a draw.
“The Warwickshire side are very similar to us and it should prove a good contest,” second team coach Paul Johnson said.
“They are a very young side with a few senior players and come with a good set of bowlers and a few all-rounders.
“If the pitch is like the one we played on today it will have good pace and bounce and the new ball will be crucial.”
The second XI is packed with talent and there are plenty of players pushing for their name to be talked about for first-team four-day cricket.
“Sam Kelsall has been scoring runs but could go a lot bigger and that should be a big aim for him.
“Graeme White should be bowling a lot and pushing for that second-spinner role in four-day and one-day cricket.
“Amongst the seamers Jake Ball has been bowling well in the YB40 and he will be looking to continue that.
“Also, Andy Carter will be looking to prove what he can do to get back into the first team.”
The three-day fixture begins tomorrow at 11am at Welbeck Colliery CC.
