Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire’s Second Eleven Championship contest ended in a draw following some resolute second-innings batting from the visitors.
On the final day Yorkshire resumed on 63-3, Jack Leaning on 6 and Will Rhodes on 3, still 58 runs behind the Nottinghamshire first innings total, however a boundary from Rhodes in the innings’ 38th over took the visitors into the lead. In the 45th over Rhodes reached his fifty and next ball the 100 partnership was reached with Leaning on 37. Lunch was taken ten minutes early due to bad light interrupting play, the score 162-3 after 49 overs, Rhodes unbeaten on 56 and Leaning with him scoring 42.
Resuming after the interval the visitors continued to increase their lead, Leaning reaching his fifty in the 56th over (188-3) and the 150 partnership brought up the 200 in the 59th over, Rhodes 70 and Leaning 60. The home side got their first breakthrough of the day in the 69th over when Sam Wood had Rhodes (89) caught by Luke Wood, the score 244-4 ending a partnership of 194.
Wood claimed his second, finally sending Jack Leaning back for 80. Wood claimed his third in identical fashion, trapping Oliver Robinson for 11. Wood had figures of 3-10 in 21 ballss but Azeem Rafiq and Richard Pyrah continued until tea, the visitors 296-6
In the first over after the interval Ben Kitt trapped Pyrah without any addition to the total, but Rafiq reached his fifty in the 92nd over (322-6).
Hassan Azad took the ball in the 97th over, and trapped Josh Shaw for 8 with his third delivery, but six balls later Yorkshire declared on 368-8, before the captains shook hands, Nottinghamshire’s first SEChampionship match ending a draw.
