Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club have been nominated for a national award following the successful delivery of last year’s Investec Ashes Test at Trent Bridge.
The Club will find out if they have been successful at the final of the Visit England Awards For Excellence at a glittering ceremony to be staged at Cheltenham Racecourse in May.
Trent Bridge has been nominated in the ‘Best Tourism Event’ category and will go head to head with prestigious events staged across the country.
"This recognition is testament to the strength of our partnerships with Nottingham City Council, Nottinghamshire County Council, Rushcliffe Borough Council and Experience Nottinghamshire who contributed so much to our bid to secure Ashes Test Matches,” said Michael Temple, Nottinghamshire’s Head of Marketing and Communications
"We were all united in striving for the highest possible standards of match delivery and our efforts to stage an international sporting contest for the entire county to be proud of were very well received.
"A lot of people take great pride in Trent Bridge and our ambition to secure the long-term future of the ground as a Test Match Venue will only be helped by this nomination.”
Nottinghamshire’s partnership with local authorities and Experience Nottinghamshire has been re-formed to plan a programme of marketing and delivery around England’s two international matches against India to be staged at Trent Bridge this summer.
The success of 2013 has also been recognised with nominations at the Nottingham Post Business Awards for ‘Best Marketing’ and ‘Best Community Project’.
