Nottinghamshire's player of the season Riki Wessels has been snapped up by the Sydney Sixers for this winter's KFC T20 Big Bash League.
Wessels, who scored a scintillating 470 twenty20 runs for Notts Outlaws, including 95 not out against the Derbyshire Falcons at Trent Bridge.
The Sixers had previously contracted West Indian international Dwayne Smith for the tournament, but he has pulled out due to personal reasons.
“We are very excited that a player of Riki’s calibre was available at such short notice and we are looking forward to his arrival," said Sixers General Manager Dom Remond.
"He plays County with Michael Lumb and we know he’ll fit in perfectly with our squad.
“While we were aware of Dwayne's personal issues we received assurances from his management that he would be available for this season with the Sixers.
“Unfortunately Dwayne has had a relapse of his condition that means he is unable to join us and we wish him the best with his recovery."
Wessels' arrival in Sydney will complete an all-Nottinghamshire overseas quota for the Sixers, with stalwart Michael Lumb also representing the franchise this winter.
Notts Outlaws hope to break the 10,000 barrier when reigning champions Birmingham Bears visit Trent Bridge for a NatWest T20 Blast encounter on Friday 15 May. Adult tickets have been reduced to £10 with further discounts in place for under 16s (£5), under 21s (£7) over 65s (£7) buying in advance. Secure your seats here.
